Sign Services Plus is a sign permit expediting and code compliance practice based in Burr Ridge, Illinois, working nationwide. We are not a sign fabricator, a design studio or a general permit shop that also does signs. Sign companies are good at signs. Fabrication, engineering, installation, service — that is where their expertise and their margin live. Permitting is none of those things. It is regulatory research, form-filling, document chasing and polite persistence with municipal offices, and it arrives in unpredictable bursts.
So it gets handled by whoever has capacity: a project manager between jobs, an office administrator learning a new ordinance from scratch, sometimes the owner at nine at night. Getting a permit issued is a milestone, not a finish line. A permit has an expiry window. Most installations require an inspection to close out. Some jurisdictions require periodic renewal for illuminated or electronic signage. Nonconforming signs lose their protected status the moment they are modified. And a sign installed a few inches outside what the approved drawing showed is a violation waiting to be noticed during the next tenant improvement.
